Organization
The Presbyterian Church is organized as a democratic form of government. Members from within each congregation are elected as spiritual leaders, called Elders and Deacons. They serve defined terms (typically three years) before being elegible for re-election. Ministers and Elders make up the Presbytery governing body, and may then be elected to serve in either the Synod or national governing body (PCUSA).
Minister of Word and Sacrament (the church's pastor) is responsible for preaching, pastoral care, and general oversight of the congregation.
Elders share in the responsibility of congregational oversight, with administrative care given to worship, education, stewardship, facility care, and policy management.
Deacons assist with pastoral care, providing a ministry of compassion to members of the church and community who are in need.
